My Desperate Friend’s Desperate Kitchen
Some
kitchens are messy with dishes galore, Or junk mail
in piles and crumbs on the floor, But my friend has
a kitchen that’s really a mess. How she can cook
there is anyone’s guess. Vicky and Gus, my
neighbors, are neat, They bought and old farm house
that sits ‘cross the street. They’ve worked on their
house-it’s a labor of love, They put siding below
and a new roof above. Inside has new closets and the
living room’s fine, It’s filled with antiques-makes
you step back in time. But the kitchen, my goodness,
it’s hard on the eyes, It really detracts from their
old farmhouse prize. So, Vicky is entering this
contest you’re giving, To try to improve this one
room where they’re living. Just turn to the
pictures, and while you are looking Try to imagine
my friend in there cooking. Don’t get me wrong,
Vicky’s cooking is great, But while eating there’s
not really room for your plate. Counter space? It is
lacking; the cupboards don’t match. Where once stood
a window, it’s now just a patch. The kitchen itself
is not a bad size, It’s jus that its space is not
organized. No place for appliances, cookbooks
abound, And it seems as though stuff is just always
around. If you agree they could use a redo, To make
this old kitchen seem almost like new, Then just let
us know, it’d be great if they’re winners- (And I
just might profit from one or two dinners)
